A mysterious piece of space junk could be EVA Pod

nasa A mysterious piece of space junk is expected to fall back to Earth next month, giving scientists a prime view of how incoming objects behave when they hit the Earth’s atmosphere.
The object — officially named WTF1190F — is expected to enter Earth’s atmosphere on Nov. 13ish, around 2:20 a.m. ET, at which point much of it will likely burn up, according to a bulletin from the European Space Agency’s Near Earth Object Coordination Center.

It’s unclear what the object is, but it is thought to be one of the EVA Pods deployed during the Jupiter mission of 2001. Two EVA Pods were lost on the notorious mission.

Plans are being pulled together by Nasa to capture the “Junk” and return it to Earth. If successful they plan to sell it on Ebay. If it is the pod the was propelled into space by the Hal9000 computer they expect a hefty $20,000,000 price tag. If it is the pod that commander David Bowman used to explore the further reaches of time and space the price could double.
