About John

John Petricka grew up in Larkspur, California and moved to Sonoma in 1970 when he bought a ranch. He’s been a master cabinet builder since 1973 and is the owner of Plaza Cabinetry. Petricka’s fine craftsmanship can be found throughout homes and wineries in Sonoma, including inside B.R. Cohn’s own tasting room.
John met Bruce Cohn after winning Sonoma Music Festival concert tickets on KFOG, an event Cohn produced for years. Their paths crossed later in 2004 as John began selling his Merlot grapes to B.R. Cohn Winery.
Petricka’s favorite hobby is collecting classic cars. His favorite is a 1962 Cadillac convertible, white with lipstick red interior. It has carried many parade grand marshals.
John’s favorite wine is Merlot because he says it goes easily with many foods including cheese, turkey, steak and is great with BBQ. If you’re on the fence about Merlot, try it! Forbes.com just featured Petricka Merlot, designating it as among the very best of this varietal in California.

Fun Fact about John: He’s a big fan of the “I Love Lucy” show, so much so that he named his two youngest kids Lucy and Desimond. He also named the street he lives on Desilu Drive.
